FEDERAL POLICY

During a time when many believed violence prevention legislation was impossible, Center Road helped Sandy Hook Promise achieve their vision. We devised a multipronged strategy, drafted legacy building legislation and built trusted relationships with the Republican-controlled Congress and Trump Administration to pass bipartisan legislation that authorized over $1 billion in school violence prevention funding.

APPROPRIATIONS

When Culpepper Garden faced critical infrastructure challenges for its senior housing but lacked the resources to address them, Center Road created and executed a ground-up strategy to navigate the Congressional Directed Spending process. As a result, we secured $2.03 million in federal funding directed towards these essential renovations to better serve Arlington's most vulnerable older adults.

LEGISLATION

At a time when new Congressional authorizations were challenging, Center Road helped the Maternal Mental Health Leadership Alliance pass the Into the Light for Maternal Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Act. Our comprehensive legislative and advocacy strategy codified the Maternal Mental Health Hotline and quadrupled funding for state maternal mental health programs.

FEDERAL POLICY

In response to social media harms against children, Center Road pivoted the Eating Disorders Coalition for Research, Policy & Action to lead advocacy of the Kids Online Safety Act. By unifying a diverse coalition of mental health experts, tech-accountability groups and bereaved families, we overcame billions in tech-industry lobbying to secure a historic 91-3 vote to advance the legislation out of the U.S. Senate. This landmark progress exemplifies our ability to mobilize collective voice and strategic expertise to challenge the status quo in a divided Congress.

ADVOCACY DAYS

We excel at developing small- and large-scale Capitol Hill Advocacy Days that advance our clients’ policy priorities. When the Eating Disorders Coalition for Research, Policy & Action saw an opportunity for Congressional support for eating disorders, Center Road trained advocates and organized an advocacy day on the Hill, leading to 1 in 3 House meetings and 1 in 5 Senate meetings that resulted in federal funding support.

REGULATORY ADVOCACY

When REDC aimed to eliminate barriers to eating disorders treatment, Center Road lobbied and submitted regulatory comments to the Department of Labor to strengthen insurance company compliance under the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, leading to enforcement actions against insurance plans and delivering coverage for medical nutrition therapy to individuals with eating disorders.

FEDERAL POLICY

Following the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, Center Road partnered with Sandy Hook Promise to transform national grief into legislative action. By leveraging our expertise in building conservative common ground, we mobilized a diverse coalition of mental health, education and violence prevention advocates to navigate a deeply polarized landscape. Our strategic leadership was instrumental in the passage of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, securing a historic $13 billion investment in school mental health and lethal weapon safety in over 30 years.

COALITION BUILDING & MOBILIZATION

When Akin sought to create the National Family Resource Center Coalition to increase awareness of the proven benefits of Family Resource Centers, Center Road helped build the Coalition, growing membership by 47%, boasting 68 members across 34 states, which were mobilized to pass the first definition of Family Resource Centers in federal law.
